Our Story

The roots of our parent company VASSUNDHARA CRAFTS PRIVATE LIMITED lie in the city of Panchkula, a satellite town of The City Beautiful – Chandigarh. Two friends together since their childhood and fond of wearing handloom & handwoven fabrics, were finding it hard to get good quality handloom products directly sourced from the weavers at affordable prices. Wherever they could find good quality handloom fabrics, they were heavily priced as there were number of layers between weavers and customers and every layer increased the cost for the end user and provided very low income to the weavers.

We thought there must be many others like us who face the same problem so why not be the one ourselves who can increase the income of weavers, we buy from, and provide handloom & handcrafted stuff at the best prices to customers directly.

Driven by this idea, we, Ruchi & Puja founded Vassundhara Crafts Private Limited in May 2022.

We are also trying to help weavers, embroiderers, and artisans in rural India, keep the ages-old loom crafts alive and revitalize their skills.

We have begun with small clothing collections. We use the traditional techniques and skills of weavers and mix-n-match it with contemporary styles and designs.

Our collections include Arjakh Hand Block (origin - Sindh), Banarasi (by weavers from Gujarat who migrated to Banaras in 1600s), Bhujodi (from Kutch in Gujarat), Dhakai Jamdani (origin – Dhaka), Chanderi (from Gwalior region in Madhya Pradesh), Maheshwari (from Indore region in Madhya Pradesh), Ikkat (dyeing and weaving technique from Telangana, Odisah) and Shibori & Clamp Dye (origin – China, done in various part of our country).

Vassundhara remains deeply committed to support traditional weavers, embroiders and artisans of rural India to keep the age-old skills alive.
